Top seed and previous champion David Ferrer is the first player into the semi-finals of the Heineken tennis Open in Auckland.
The Spanish world number seven beat Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber in three sets, 6-3 7-6 6-3 in the quarterfinals, and now plays either Colombian ATP Tour debutant Santiago Giraldo or top Brazilian player Thomaz Bellucci, who do battle in the night match this evening.
Next up on centre court is qualifier Adrian Mannarino of France against second seed Nicolas Almagro, another Spaniard, followed by the American defending champion John Isner playing Argentine sixth seed David Nalbandian.
