Taylor amongst million dollar men at IPL auction

The New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor has been bought for just over $1.3 million on the opening day of the two-day Indian Premier League auction in Bangalore.

Taylor has been picked up by the Rajasthan Royals for the rich Twenty20 competition which starts in April.

Taylor was amongst 15 players who fetched over a million dollars with Indian opener Gautam Gambhir setting a new record, bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for over $3.1 million.

New Zealand captain, Daniel Vettori, Brendon and Nathan McCullum and James Franklin have also been picked up by different teams with Vettori fetching the second best price for a New Zealander, purchased by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for just over 723,000 dollars.

Kochi paid just over $620,000 for Brendon McCullum while Pune and Mumbai both outlaid just over $131,000 each for Nathan McCullum and James Franklin respectively.

Jesse Ryder was unsold after the first day.
