There's been a big upset at the ASB Tennis classic with third seed Svetlana Kuznetsova losing in three sets to China's Shaui Peng who came back from 3-love down in the third
The Russian had looked on track to be first into the quarter-finals in Auckland when she took the first set 6-2.
But Peng broke early in the second set to win it 6-4 and wore down a tiring Kuznetsova in the third to win by the same margin after two and a quarter hours.
And another Russian has followed Kuznetsova out of the tournament, Elene Vesnina, withdrawing from her match with Simona Halep of Romania when she was trailing 4-0 in the third set after winning the first 6-2 and losing the second 4-6.
