Sacked Allardyce "lacked vision" say Blackburn's new owners

Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce was sacked yesterday because his football vision didn't fit in with the club's new Indian owners who believe they should be fourth or fifth in the premier league.

Allardyce said he was "shocked and disappointed" after being axed, despite the club winning four of its last seven league games and being five points off the top six.

Manchester United's manager Alex Ferguson labelled the decision "absolutely ridiculous".

A spokesman for the owners said they would ideally find a British replacement, although they were in no hurry. The assistant coach Steve Kean is in charge of the team in the interim.
