Europe's top golfer humbled by latest achievement

3:20 pm on 29 November 2010

Germany's Martin Kaymer has described ending the year as Europe's number one golfer as one of the most humbling experiences of his career after the PGA championship winner claimed his first ever money-list title.

Kaymer finished well clear of closest rival Graeme McDowell as Europe's top earner after the pair tied for 13th place in the season-ending Dubai World Championship picking up a cheque for US$1.5 million (NZ$ 2 million) for his troubles.

Sweden's Robert Karlsson beat Britain's Ian Poulter in a dramatic playoff to win the Dubai Championship, but the day belonged to 26-year-old Martin Kaymer.
