Oceania Football discusses Temarii

10:10 am on 28 November 2010

The Oceania Football Federation has met in Auckland to discuss the ban on its president Reynald Temarii and consequent loss of its vote in the elections to decide the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosts.

David Chung will continue as Acting OFC President until the next OFC congress after the OFC executive addressed the FIFA Ethics Committee's decision to suspend Reynald Temarii from all football-related activity for a year for breaching FIFA's code of ethics.

A resolution was passed to postpone any decision on the date and venue of the 2011 OFC congress until the executive meet again in December.

The OFC executive believes it has the right to appoint a replacement FIFA Vice President for the remainder of the term to replace Temarii as OFC's representative and pending FIFA responding to an enquiry on this, the OFC won't comment further.

With regards to the FIFA Ethics Committee's decision to suspend Ahongalu Fusimalohi, no replacement will be sought for the vacant OFC Executive Committee position while the appeal process is still open.

FIFA executive committee member Temarii was last week suspended from all footballing activity for a year following an investigation into allegations he offered to sell his vote in the World Cup hosting contest to undercover newspaper reporters.
