The All Blacks are one win away from a third Grand Slam in five years after beating Ireland 38-18 in Dublin.
Although the Irish scored the first try the All Blacks dominated possession and first-five Dan Carter says eventually their patience was rewarded.
Carter says they didn't get frustrated when they weren't getting the rewards for dominating possession and forcing Ireland to make twice as many tackles.
And he says the key to stretching the unbeaten run against Ireland to 23 victories in 24 Tests, was scoring a try just before half-time for a 19-13 lead then adding two more early in the second spell.
Carter kicked four penalties and converted three of the four tries in a man of the match performance.
Kieran Read scored two tries and locks Anthony Boric and Sam Whitelock got one each.
Carter's now three points short of eclipsing the test record of England's Jonny Wilkinson who scored 1178 points
Meanwhile it looks as a knee ligament injury has ended lock Tom Donnelly's tour with one test to come against Wales next Sunday.
The win is Graham Henry's 100th victory as a Test match coach while Richie McCaw and Mils Muliaina now hold the joint record for the most All Blacks Test appearances with 93 each.
