The West Indies opening batsman Chris Gayle has put Sri Lanka under pressure after becoming the first West Indian batsman to score a triple-century in an away test.

The former captain made a career-best 333 in the West Indies 580 for 9 declared, and at stumps on day two Sri Lanka were 54 for 1.

Gayle becomes only the fourth batsman to score two triple-centuries in Tests, joining Don Bradman, Virender Sehwag and fellow West Indian Brian Lara.
