England's rugby captain Lewis Moody has denied provoking Keven Mealamu before the head-butt which led to the All Blacks' hooker being banned for four weeks.
Moody says he's mystified by rumours that he made insulting comments about Mealamu's family shortly before the veteran hooker launched himself at Moody during last weekend's test at Twickenham, insisting that he said absolutely nothing to Mealamu.
Mealaumu's been bracketed with Hikawera Elliot for this weekend's test against Scotland, pending the outcome of an appeal against his ban which will be heard late tonight in Edinburgh.
