Clijsters beats Stosur after car crash

Kim Clijsters says family has replaced tennis as her top priority but the Belgian showed her passion for the game had not faded when she battered Sam Stosur at the WTA Championships in Doha - just hours after a car crash.

The 27-year-old, who returned to the circuit in 2009 after a two-year 'retirement' to start a family, reached the final of the season-ending tournament in the Qatari capital with a 7-6 6-1 win over Australian Stosur.

Her semi-final victory was even more remarkable given that Clijsters was involved in what she said was a "scary" car crash on the way to the Khalifa Tennis Complex in Doha.

She was unhurt, though her manager Bob Verbeeck suffered some cuts from flying glass.
