Breakers score another win

11:07 am on 29 October 2010

The New Zealand Breakers have scored their third straight win in the Australian National Basketball League, beating the Melbourne Tigers 84-79 on the North Shore.

The Breakers went into the final quarter down by four but Tom Abercrombie's defensive rebounds, coupled with some outstanding defensive intent from Gary Wilkinson and Dillon Boucher regained the impetus for the home side.

New Zealand outscored Melbourne 20-11 in the final period to snatch the win and remain perfect so far this season.

CJ Bruton landed 25 points for the match, including 7 3-pointers, and in the process passed 1,000 points for the club.

Wilkinson added 14 points, and there were 12 each to Tom Abercrombie and Alex Pledger.

Melbourne have three straight losses.

The other unbeaten side Wollongong play Perth tonight.
