Waikato has sealed a semi-final berth in the provincial rugby competition after beating the champions Canterbury 26-6 in Hamilton.
Canterbury were kept tryless throughout and scoreless in the second half, but Waikato may rue the chance to not push for four tries and the bonus point late in the game, instead kicking for penalties.
Waikato end the round robin a point behind Canterbury and may miss out on a home semi-final if Auckland can score a bonus point win over Tasman on Sunday.
It's Waikato's first win over Canterbury since 2006. They led 16-6 at half-time and scored a try in each half.
