Colin Ingram became the first South African to score a century on his one-day cricket international debut as the hosts beat Zimbabwe by 64 runs in Bloemfontein.

The 25-year-old Ingram batted at number three in place of the injured Jacques Kallis and scored a well paced 124 runs from 126 deliveries as South Africa piled up 351-6 in their 50 overs in the first ODI.

Opener Brendan Taylor did his best to keep Zimbabweans in the game with a spirited 145 not out from 136 balls but the gulf in class between the teams was always evident as they finished on 287-6.
