Second string teams take big strides in Americas event

Argentina's Jaguars rounded off a successful American Rugby Championship by retaining the title and showing an increased strength in depth from which the Pumas can draw for the 2011 World Cup.

The Jaguars, Argentina's second string, won the four-team tournament in which Canada Select, former Ireland coach Eddie Sullivan's USA Select and Tonga A also took part in the north-central city of Cordoba over the last 10 days.

The IRB has supported Argentina, particularly since their third place at the 2007 World Cup in France, to cement their status as a Tier One nation and get the Pumas in a major yearly international championship.
