NZ finishes 11th on Delhi medal table

New Zealand has finished 11th on the Delhi Commonwealth Games medal table after picking up a gold and bronze on the final day of competition.

The Silver Ferns beat Australia 66-64 in golden-goal double extra time in the netball final, while the men's hockey team beat England in a penalty shootout for the bronze medal.

New Zealand finished with 36 medals: six gold, 22 silver and eight bronze.

Australia topped the standings with 177 medals including 74 gold, India was second with 101 including 38 gold. They were followed by England, Canada, South Africa, Kenya, Malaysia, Singapore, Nigeria, Scotland and New Zealand.

36 nations won a medal at the Delhi Games.
