Five New Zealand swimmers have qualified for finals at the Delhi Commonwealth Games.
Daniel Bell excelled in qualifying third in the 100m backstroke, while team-mate Gareth Kean, already a silver medallist in the 200 metres backstroke, swam in the same race and qualified sixth.
Hayley Palmer, who has swum impressively in Delhi, qualified second in the 50 freestyle.
Glenn Snyders, endeavouring to bounce back from his disappointment in the 100 breaststroke, was the equal fastest qualifier alongside South African Cameron van der Burgh, the world record-holder, in the 50m breaststroke.
The fifth New Zealander to progress was Emily Thomas, who was seventh qualifier in the women's 50 backstroke.
Of those who failed to book a spot in finals, most attention focused on Moss Burmester, a bronze medallist in the 100 butterfly at the Commonwealth Games four years ago, who just missed out on qualifying for the final.
