The chairman of a non-league English football club embroiled in the Pakistan cricket team 'fixing' scandal is believed to have killed himself.

Croydon Athletic's chairman David Le Cluse, 44, was found dead on Sunday with gunshot wounds in a garage near his home in Sutton, south of London.

The club's owner , Mazhar Majeed, was arrested in August after allegations some Pakistan cricketers were involved in 'spot-fixing' during their recent tour of England.

Le Cluse, married with two children, was said by the team's former manager to have been deeply distressed when the side were linked to the accusations.
