The New Zealand women's hockey team has won their first Commonwealth Games pool match 5-1 against Wales in Delhi.

The score was locked at 1-all at half-time, with New Zealand's Katie Glynn getting the Black Sticks out to an early lead, before Wales hit back just minutes before halftime.

Gemma Flynn scored early in the second half to get New Zealand back in the lead, and two goals from Anna Thorpe put the win beyond doubt.

Clarissa Eshuis scored minutes before the final whistle to make it 5-1 for New Zealand.
