Everton finally got a win, 2-0 at Birmingham City, while Wigan Athletic also beat Wolverhampton Wanderers by the same score.
Other winners included Tottenham Hotspur over Aston Villa, 2-1 and Stoke City over Blackburn Rovers, 1-0.
West Ham United drew 1-0 with cross-town rivals Fulham, as did West Bromwich Albion and Bolton Wanderers.
