Gold Coast less daunting with Smeltz gone

5:22 pm on 1 October 2010

The Wellington Phoenix football coach Ricki Herbert is targeting tonight's A-league clash away to Gold Coast as a must win for his side struggling to break their away form hoodoo.

The Phoenix are unbeaten in 24 games at the Westpac Stadium fortress but their away record pails in comparison with the Wellington side failing to win any of their four away games so far this season.

Herbert believes his side are just one watershed win away from reversing their travel woes and says there won't be a better opportunity than tonight against a Gold Coast side minus All Whites super striker Shane Smeltz.

The game gets underway at 11pm.
