The owner of the French rugby club Toulon, Mourad Boudjellal, has accused All Blacks first five Dan Carter of making unreasonable wage demands in order to return to France after next year's World Cup.
Carter was given a sabbatical from his contract with the New Zealand Rugby Union two years ago to link up with Top 14 outfit Perpignan.
However, he played just five games for the Catalans after rupturing his Achilles tendon.
Boudjellal, who has spared little expense in assembling one of the strongest sides in the Top 14, is interested in the star number ten but he claims that Carter is asking for ridiculous money.
In a column in the French newspaper L'Equipe, Boudjellal claims Carter is after 2 million dollars a year for three years, which he says crosses the line.
