The New Zealand golfer Michael Hendry enjoyed another top finish with a share of eighth place in the rich Panasonic Asia-Pacific Open.

Hendry, two shots off the pace going into the final round of the NZ$2.4 million event, fired a final round even-par 71 in the rain-shortened event at Rokko Kokusai Golf Club.

He finished on two-under par 210 in the co-sanctioned tournament with the Japan Golf Tour and the Asian Tour, gaining entry with his win in the Fiji Open earlier in the year.

Australian Brendan Jones shot a five-under 66 to win on six-under, one shot clear of Japan's Ryuichi Oda.

Hendry picked up NZ$48,000 for his efforts and will return home to defend his title at the Port Taranaki Open, the penultimate event in the 2010 Charles Tour starting on Thursday.
