Champions Chelsea have lost their perfect start to the English football Premiership, beaten 1-0 by Manchester City at Eastlands.

Carlos Tevez struck after 59 minutes, his fourth goal in his last three matches against Chelsea - who dropped their first points of the season after five consecutive victories.

Arsenal failed to capitalise on Chelsea's defeat as they were beaten 3-2 at home by West Bromwich Albion.

Chelsea stay top with 15 points but Manchester United can close to within a point with victory at Bolton Wanderers overnight. Arsenal and City both have 11 points with West Brom in fifth place on 10.

Liverpool failed to lift the Anfield gloom as they drew 2-2 at home to Sunderland while city rivals Everton slumped to the bottom of the table after a nil-all draw at Fulham.

West Ham United moved off the bottom with their first victory of the season, beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0.

Blackpool lost 2-1 at home to Blackburn Rovers while the Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic game ended scoreless.
