English star set to play in Ryder Cup

England's world golf number three Lee Westwood says he's almost certain to be fit to play for Europe in next week's Ryder Cup match against the United States in Wales.

Westwood has been sidelined for seven weeks because of a badly swollen right calf muscle and ankle and there were fears he could miss the biennial match.

37 year old Westwood has just played a two-day charity event in Scotland, and he plans to play 18 holes over the next two days, then step up to 36 holes in a day to satisfy himself that he'll be able to cope with the Ryder Cup format.
