Fennell expresses his concerns

The Commonwealth Games Federation president Michael Fennell has expressed grave concern about the athletes' village in Delhi, saying the facility is seriously compromised.

Fennell has written to the Indian government, calling on them to fix the problems with New Zealand chef de mission Dave Currie describing problems of cleanliness, plumbing, wiring, internet access and mobile phone coverage.

The Times of India newspaper has reported just 18 of the 34 residential towers were completed while New Zealand alnog with Canada, Scotland and Northern Ireland have described the conditions as unliveable.

Toilets are a mess, while fixtures and fittings are to still to be fitted said the paper.

But Fennell says the Games will go ahead as planned.
