The chef de mission of the New Zealand Commonwealth Games team is refusing to say whether he's issued an ultimatum to the Games organisers of making the athletes village habitable or New Zealand will withdraw.

The New Zealand team's been allocated different apartment blocks after chef de mission Dave Currie described their initial tower block as unliveable.

Currie says people had been living in the apartments allocated to New Zealand and on top of hygiene issues there'salso problems with plumbing, wiring, internet access and mobile phone coverage.

Asked if New Zealand had issued a deadline for the athletes accommodation to be ready by, Currie refused to answer.

The first New Zealand athletes are due to arrive in Delhi on Saturday.
