Valerie Adams says she's going to Delhi

1:27 pm on 20 September 2010

The wounding of two Taiwanese tourists when gunmen opened fire on a bus in Delhi won't stop Valerie Adams going to the Commonwealth Games.

The Olympic and world shot put champion intends to defend her Commonwealth title next month, although she'll be guided by officials and her manager Nick Cowan.

And she has no plans to change her usual practice of staying right through the Games to support other members of the team, because she thinks it's important for the athletes competing at the end to have some familiar faces cheering them on.

NZOC officials are seeking more information about the shooting, and the team chef de mission Dave Currie is in Delhi doing final checks on security and facilities.
