The Wellington winger Hosea Gear was straight back into try scoring form as he helped Wellington to a 17-13 win over Hawkes Bay in the National Provincial rugby Championship.
Gear scored one of Wellington's three tries in the win which ended a 2 match losing streak for the Wellington side.
Those loses conincided with Gear out with a hamstring injury.
Gear says having missed some time on the park, he just wanted to get his hands on the ball and do the basics well, and was fortunate enough to have the players around him creating gaps in Hawkes Bay's defence.
He says he'll still have to mananage his hamstring injury as he'll be leaving for the Commonwealth Games in just over a week.
