Wide running Mooloo men set to keep up pace

The Waikato coach Chris Gibbes says his side will continue to play an expansive style of rugby and look to use their speed out wide when they take on top of the table Southland in their national provincial clash in Hamilton tonight.

The fifth-placed Waikato can join the Stags and Canterbury at the top of the ITM Cup with a bonus point win while Southland will be looking to put further space between them and the chasing pack.

Waikato struggled with inconsistent performances during the first half of the competition, highlighted by a chronic lack of ball control and Gibbes says while they're focusing on retaining possession he doesn't want his players to move away from their natural game.

The game kicks off at 7.35pm.
