Robinson signs to Melbourne Rebels

The Melbourne Rebels rugby franchise has added another New Zealand tight-forward to their inaugural Super 15 squad by signing the ex-Junior All Blacks hooker Ged Robinson.

The 27-year-old joins former the All Blacks prop Greg Somerville and the New Zealand-born locks Kevin O'Neill and Hoani Macdonald in Melbourne.

Robinson, who plays for the Wellington Lions in the National Provincial Championship, is the Rebels' third rake, along with former Wallabies hooker Adam Freier and young Brisbane forward Heath Tessman.

The Rebels forwards coach, Mark Bakewell, says Robinson's signing will ensure fierce competition for the number 2 jersey.
