Clijsters beats Venus to reach US Open final

The defending champion Kim Clijsters fought back to beat Venus Williams 4-6 7-6 6-4 in the semi-finals of the U.S. Tennis Open to join Vera Zvonareva in Sunday's final.

Clijsters regained her composure after losing the opening set to seal victory and remain on course to defend the title she won last year and stretch her winning streak at Flushing Meadows to 20 matches.

Williams won the U.S. Open for the second time in 2001 but has not made the final in New York for eight years and was left rue missed opportunities.

The Belgian Clijsters, who won the championship in 2005 and again last year, now faces Zvonareva for the title after the Russian upset Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki 6-4 6-3 in the other semi-final.
