Vettori named top cricketer again

The Black Caps captain Daniel Vettori has been named the New Zealand Cricketer of the Year for the second consecutive year and the fourth time in six years.

At the awards dinner in Auckland last night, Vettori also lifted the Winsor Cup for First-Class bowling and the Walter Hadlee Trophy for One-Day International bowling.

In the voting period the talented all-rounder hit 742 Test runs at an average of 49.46, 398 ODI runs at 30.61 and 120 Twenty20 runs at 24.00.

His spin bowling returned 32 Test wickets at 36.75, 27 ODI wickets at 20.29 and 10 Twenty20 wickets at 22.80.

Vice captain Ross Taylor won the Redpath Cup for first class batting, Brendan McCullum won the Walter Hadlee Trophy for One Day International batting and the JR Reid trophy for allrounders.

Nicola Browne was named best womens international bowler and Suzie Bates won the international batters award.

Auckland's Michael Bates was named the men's domestic player of the year and Nicola Browne won the womens domestic player award.
