Trans Tasman netball competition condensed

6:43 pm on 7 September 2010

Next year's trans-Tasman netball competition has been condensed into 12 weeks with three double rounds scheduled.

The competition will start on Sunday, February 13th, when the New South Wales Swifts play the defending champions the Adelaide Thunderbirds, with the first New Zealand teams playing the following night with the Northern Mystics hosting the Southern Steel.

As in previous years New Zealand and Australian teams will play each other only once while New Zealand teams their domestic opposition twice.

Thursday night games have also been introduced.

ANZ competition general manager Anthony Everard says the schedule had to be compressed with the netball world champs in Singapore in July.

The squads for the 2011 trans Tasman competition will be announced at the end of the month.
