Tall Blacks out of World Champs

10:30 am on 7 September 2010

The Tall Blacks concede getting into early foul trouble hurt them as they were eliminated from the World Championships in Turkey with a 78-56 loss to Russia in their round of 16 match.

The Tall Blacks started well and led 15-13 at quarter-time, however the Russians took the lead soon after and extended it throughout the match.

A number of New Zealanders got into foul trouble, most notably shooting star Kirk Penney and top rebounder Mika Vukona.

Guard Tom Abercrombie says that really affected their game.

Russia now go on to play the USA in the quarter-finals, while New Zealand now set their sights on the London 2012 Olympics.
