The England cricketer Kevin Pietersen faces an official investigation after his angry reaction yesterday to being axed for the limited overs series against Pakistan.
Pietersen jumped the gun on the team announcement on his Twitter feed, ridiculing the selectors in highly emotive language before it was withdrawn from the website.
But the former England test star Darren Gough sympathises with Pietersen, describing as "absolutely pathetic" the decision to drop the star of England's Twenty20 World Cup campaign earlier this year.
Gough also insisted Pietersen should continue to be a part of England's plans for their defence of the Ashes in Australia.
