English cricket's star batsman Kevin Pietersen has announced his own axing from England's limited overs series at home against Pakistan.
Pietersen broke the news in colourful language via the social networking site Twitter, and a source close to the England team later confirmed he had indeed been left out, for the first time in his six year international career.
Man of the series in England's Twenty20 World Cup win in the Caribbean earlier this year, Pietersen has struggled for runs this English summer, scoring only one half century - a scratchy 80 in the second test against Pakistan.
He could face disciplinary action for revealing squad details before the official announcement.
