Differing opinions on importance of netball series

12:13 pm on 29 August 2010

The Silver Ferns have more to lose than Australia in the three-Test netball series which starts in Adelaide this afternoon.

Having lost last year's series, Silver Ferns captain Casey Williams admits another series loss would give the Australians a huge confidence boost ahead of the defence of their Commonwealth Games title.

But the Australian coach Norma Plummer says a series win will mean nothing come October.

And Plummer says the results against Jamaica give little clue as to how the series against New Zealand will unfold.

Australia played three Tests against Jamaica earlier this month and the Silver Ferns two.

The Australians generally beat Jamaica by 30 points while the Silver Ferns two wins were by 20 or so points.

But Plummer says the Tests were little more than practice games.
