Jacob Oram's pinning his hopes of a probable final fling in international cricket on impending knee surgery.

The big Black Cap's keen to be back playing in the New Year and fit in time for the World Cup in February.

The 32-year-old allrounder was forced home early from the tri-series in Sri Lanka with a damaged patella.

Despite being beset by injuries during his 10-year international career, Oram will undergo only his first operation next week.

Oram says he's determined to play again and has no intention of retiring at this stage.
