The Canterbury assistant coach Tabai Matson says former league star Sonny Bill Williams should make his rugby debut for the Canterbury in next week's national provincial championship.
The coaches were hoping the former Kiwi would be available for this weekend's clash with traditional rivals Auckland in Christchurch but a tight hamstring again ruled the midfielder out.
Matson says Sonny Bill was 90 percent ready to play against Auckland but will have to wait another week for his much anticipated New Zealand debut.
