Black Ferns start with thrashing of South Africa

The New Zealand women's rugby team has beaten South Africa 55-3 in their opening match of the World Cup in Guildford, just outside London.

The Black Ferns scored nine tries, six in the first half. They face Australia next up on Wednesday.

Canada kicked off the 12-team tournament with a 37-10 win over Scotland, England beat Ireland 27-0, Australia beat Wales 26-12, France defeated Sweden 15-9 and the USA beat Kazakhstan 51-0.
