Kayakers working towards London 2012

The New Zealand kayak coaches hope to have their intended Olympic crews finalised following this weekend's World Championships in Poland.

10 crews are taking part, not all of them are in Olympic events.

High Performance Manager Wayne Maher says their hope is for as many crews as possible to make finals, but whatever happens they'll have a better idea of which crews they should concentrate on next year ahead of London 2012.

He says the competition will be outstanding in some events this weekend with up to 45 paddlers in some of the K1 races.

The 1000 metre events start tonight with the 200 and 500 metre events starting tomorrow night.
