Otago's cricketers have upset State Shield one day competition leaders Central Districts, winning by eight wickets in Alexandra.

Otago captain Craig Cumming took one for 17 as Central were restricted to 188 for eight in their 50 overs, then he made 70 not out as Otago cruised to 191 for two.

Auckland remain winless after posting an unimpressive 197 at the Basin Reserve. The Aces were all out in the last over and Wellington won by four wickets, reaching 199 for six in the 49th over.

And Northern Districts beat Canterbury by four wickets in Rangiora, thanks largely to a superb 94-run partnership from the Marshall twins. Hamish Marshall made 131 while James reached 51.

Canterbury made 253 for six in their 50 overs before Northern overhauled them in the 48th over, making 257 for six.
