Styris out for 6 weeks

10:17 am on 27 December 2008

The New Zealand cricket all rounder Scott Styris will have a pin inserted in his right thumb today after he fractured it while batting against the West Indies in the Twenty/20 match at Eden Park last night.

He's expected to be out of cricket for up to six weeks.

No replacement will be added to the squad for tomorrow's second and final Twenty20 game in Hamilton.

Ccaptain Dan Vettori says he expects Jessie Ryder to take up Styris' bowling option.

The squad for the one-day series is expected to be announced tomorrow.
