The financially embattled Cairns Taipans have suffered another blow the Australian National Basketball League club's administrators sacked head coach Alan Black.

Taipans chief executive Denis Keeffe has confirmed the administrators KPMG have cut the championship-winning coach just days after Black had agreed to take a 45 per cent pay.

After the club was placed into voluntary administration a week ago, players and coaches staff agreed to take the massive pay cut in order for the club to see out the NBL season,

Imports Dave Thomas and Larry Abney were not given the choice and were sacked.

Assistant Mark Beecroft takes over for the rest of the season.
