Melbourne's captain Cameron Smith has agreed to remain with the Storm for the next four National Rugby League seasons.

The test hooker had been considering a move home to Queensland and the Gold Coast Titans for family reasons.

But Smith, who's 25, has signed a contract extension which will see him stay in Melbourne until the end of 2012.

Storm chief executive Brian Waldron says Smith could have signed elsewhere for more money but opted to stay with the club which has played in the grand final for the past three seasons.

He joins fellow Test and Origin stars Greg Inglis, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk as having pledged their long-term futures to the Storm.
