The National Basketball League will meet with another Canterbury outfit tonight which is keen to play in the competition.

At the weekend the NBL board confirmed nine teams for next year's competition, with the Canterbury Rams able to put a last-ditch rescue package together to achieve the entry deadline and will take their places in the league.

NBL chairman Sam Rossiter-Stead says the Canterbury Cougars are also keen to play and he'll hold discussions with them about the 2010 competition when they intend to re-launch the NBL.

Rossiter-Stead says at this stage the League does not support having 2 teams from Canterbury in the competition.
