Bracwell gets befitting farewell from Black Caps

7:08 pm on 1 December 2008

The New Zealand cricketers have farewelled coach John Bracewell, with a batting effort befitting his five year reign as Black Caps coach.

The Black Caps have lost the second test against Australia in Adelaide by an innings and 62 runs, with Brendon McCullum making a defiant 84 not out, as they lost the series two nil.

Starting the day at 35 without loss the Black Caps were dismissed with more than a day to play for 203.

The test was Bracewell's last assignment with the side, opting to return to the English county scene at Gloucester.

Batting has been New Zealand's achilles heel throughout Bracewell's time at the helm with the 2-nil series loss dropping them from seventh to eighth on the world test rankings, putting them above only Bangladesh.
