Another injury for Jacob Oram

The Black Caps all-rounder Jacob Oram has suffered a hairline fracture to the index finger of his left hand.

Oram took a knock to his finger while fielding for Central Districts in their State Championship cricket match against Northern Districts in Hamilton.

Central's coach Dermot Reeve says scans show Oram's injury is not too serious and it's thought he'll back to full fitness within four weeks, at the latest.

Reeve says Oram still has some movement in the hand and may be able to bowl in the interim.

He says Oram's progress will be monitored closely to ensure he recovers as quickly as possible.

The first test against the West Indies starts in Dunedin on December 11.
