LV PACIFIC CUP SPONSOR HOPES REGATTA WILL BRING PEACE TO AMCUP

6:30 pm on 20 November 2008

The gathering of America's Cup sailing teams for a regatta in Auckland this summer is being seen as a chance to end the legal warring which has left the next cup in limbo.

The Louis Vuitton Pacific Series will see both the America's Cup holder Alinghi team and courtroom rival BMW Oracle in the same sporting venue during their protracted battle in New York courts.

Billionaires team owners Larry Ellison of BMW Oracle and Alinghi's Ernesto Bertarelli have until now failed to agree on a way to end their court battle over the rules proposed by the Swiss for the next event.

Regatta co-organiser Bruno Trouble (trooblay) says while he hopes peace talks might be possible during the Auckland series - Louis Vuitton itself couldn't broker talks after itself falling out with the Swiss last year.
