The leading Australian jockey Chris Munce has been licensed to return to race riding in his home country a week after being released from prison for his part in a Hong Kong betting scandal.
Sentenced to 30 months jail by a Hong Kong court in March last year for supplying tips on horses he was riding, Munce was transferred to a Sydney jail in September last year then given an early release for good behaviour.
Racing New South Wales granted Munce a licence on the condition he makes himself available to the Hong Kong Jockey Club to help with a new steward's inquiry.
Munce is best known for his Melbourne Cup win on the NZ mare Jezabeel in 1998.
